About Ms.Serrano
Hello everyone, my name is Ashley Serrano. I am so excited to start my second year of teaching at BOYCP as a Spanish and Special Education teacher. It is an honor to be the first alumni from the first graduating class of BOYCP (Class of 2017) to comeback and teach the wonderful students at Back of the Yards. I was born and raised on the Southwest side of Chicago, IL, a community called Back of the Yards. I attended Cesar Chavez School Elementary, attended Back of the Yards High School , and for college I went to Saint Xavier University and got my Bachelors in Spanish Secondary Education with a Minor in Latino Studies, and a Masters in Special Education & ESL/Bilingual Education.
When I am not teaching, I love to watch shows/movies on Netflix, enjoy drinking Starbucks and eating wings, go on walks with my dog and bunny, spend time with my fiancé and family, and travel when possible.
Outside of teaching Spanish and English, I am also involved in Co-sponsor Spanish Honors Society and UNIDOS w/ Ms.Rivas, and Coach with Ms.Rivas for BOYCP Dance Team. GO BOBCATS!
