Welcome to Mr. Engelbreit's Teacher Page!
This is my fifth year at Back of the Yards College Prep teaching Biology and IB Environmental Systems and Societies. I couldn't be more thrilled to be a Bobcat!! I graduated from OSU with a bachelors of science in environmental science and I have my masters of education in science education from UIC. I am passionate about science and nature and bring that passion into the classroom. I consider myself a lifelong learner and encourage curiosity from my students. My students are important to me as is the classroom community that we build together. I am looking forward to working with you all this year! Subscribe to my page to receive notifications about what we are doing in class.
Welcome to my ESS juniors! A lot is happening in the world and at home that relates to our course, and I am looking forward to digging in and discussing with you all! And welcome to all of my biology juniors! We have a lot of fun activities planned for this year! I look forward to getting to know you this year.
Please look at the left hand menu for your subject to find links to your class's Google Classroom page. There you will find all assignments, materials and announcements for your class. If you are having trouble finding what you are looking for, please click "SEND EMAIL" below my picture and let me know how I can help you! Feel free to introduce yourself and give me any tips that might help me teach you (or your student) more effectively. Parents, you are encouraged to reach out via email and also join your student's Google Classroom with them. All student communication should be done through the student's CPS email or other CPS approved communication methods (my email address can be found below just under my picture).. Students, be sure to check your email and Google Classroom daily.
Also on the left, check out the photo album for pictures of some of the lab work we did the past couple years! Additionally, visit my Reading page to see what I am currently reading, books by some of my favorite authors and some books that I am looking forward to reading!
