Spanish Coalition for Housing (SCH) has become a part of the Chicago Housing Authority Community Alliance initiative in order to provide more resources to low-moderate income families. The team hosts workshops in the following communities: Belmont Cragin, New City, West lawn, Chicago Lawn, Humboldt Park, Logan Square and South Lawndale with the following topics:
- Affordable Housing - This workshop informs attendees about various CHA waitlists, the difference between Public Housing, low-income housing, eligibility requirements, application processes and maintaining eligibility
- Senior Housing - To inform attendees about Senior Housing eligibility requirements, age limitation, application processes and site visits
- HCV Landlords - The purpose of this workshop is to inform and educate attendees about, Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Homeowner's program, Fair housing regulations , HCV Owners eligibility requirements, HCV Tenant eligibility Requirement and Process of acquiring HCV tenants
Spanish Coalition for Housing (SCH) also has a homebuyers' program that helps prepare potential first-time homebuyers to become mortgage ready. They offer both individual and group pre-purchase counseling sessions. The topics include:
· Budget preparation
· Credit history evaluation
· Loan packaging
· Selecting a home
· Financing your home
The Landlord Certification: This course will focus on both the advantages of being a landlord as well as the duties and laws that you must follow to be successful.
